素描是绘画的一种，主要是以单色线条和块面来塑造物体的形象的一种绘画形式。
什么是素描：
关于如何画好的话。
素描是光与影和造型与立体的艺术，是绘画的基础。如何画好素描呢?
一. 画素描之前要充分做好各种线条的练习。练习直线（长横线、长竖线下同），平涂（一条线挨一条线，成块），弧线（半月牙形状，成组），回环线练习（一笔连续，成组），还要做线条的由浅入深、由深到浅的成组练习。
二. 素描的简单步骤 画前要观察研究物体的基本形状，看它的受光方向，结构造型，形成的立体效果，然后用直线勾出它的大体轮廓，再依照光源，确定物体的受光（淡面）、侧光（灰面）、遮光（深面）、三大部分。在深面与灰面上先铺上一片均匀的线条，使受光面暂时空出，这样就是用大块大面来表现物体，然后将各个块面中细部，也同样依照受光、侧光、遮光分成小块、小面来处理。深面里要留出反光部分，淡面里要空出高光部分，使它具备五调。还要注意小块、小面的明暗，使它们服从大面的统一调子，而大面又必须服从于整体。最后在这些面与面之间加上衔接的层次，使它自然、圆润起来，直到表现出质感为止。 素描画好后要对描绘的物体进行统筹和完善加工。
三.简单的绘画透视常识 1.凡大小相等的物体愈远，其形愈小，以至于最后消失于一点，这点称为消失点。
2.凡距离相等的景物愈远，它们之间的距离愈应当缩短。
3.凡与画者的眼睛同高而平行的一条线叫视平线。
4.凡比画者的眼睛低的东西，都在视平线的下面，看见它的上面。
5.凡比画者的眼睛高的东西，都在视平线的上面，看见它的下面。
6.站在宽广的平地上向前看，远方天地的交界线，称为地平线。平视时地平线和视平线重合，地平线就是视平线；俯视时，地平线在视平线的上方。地平线是处理透视图形的重要依据。
7.凡位置在画者右方的景物，看见它的左侧
8.凡位置在画者左方的景物，看见它的右侧。
9.凡在视平线以上的景物，愈远在画纸上的位置愈低。
10.凡在视平线以下的景物，愈远在画纸上的位置愈高。
有了以上这些绘画透视知识如果掌握并且运用到绘画中就不会在画中犯常识性的错误，而且构图会合理，符合视觉欣赏的美感。
四. 铅笔的选折 H表示硬，B表示软。6H最硬，6B最软。画素描一般有3支铅笔基本就够了。用HB铅笔打轮廓，用2B铅笔勾正稿，用4B铅笔衬阴影。在实际作画中，只要对铅笔性能有了了解，使用的力度能够把握，也不必拘泥于此，可灵活掌握。
五. 素描的基础就是多画铅笔写生。可先从石膏几何模型开始。接着如瓷器、玻璃茶具，杯与碟、碟与鸡蛋，、石膏头像模型，文具书本、各样质感的物件、室内场景等，一切皆可入画。由单一到组合，从简单到复杂。慢慢可以尝试人物素描临摹和写生。要通过学写毛笔字书法和白描（即用毛笔表现的作品），掌握用笔的功力。
六. 要在画的时候进入忘我的境界，不能急于求成。哪怕一天只画一幅画，只要全身心地投入到绘画的状态就会收到意想不到的效果。要经常临摹名家的素描作品，多看《绘画透视知识》、《怎样画素描》等一类书籍，只有刻苦、不断地潜心专研绘画技巧，才能成功。
