April Fools' Day'To end our special news bulletin,' said the voice of the television announcer,'we are going over to the macaroni fields of Calabria.Macaroni has been grown in this area for over six hundred years. This last scene shows you what will happen at the end of the harvest:the famous Calabrian macaroni-eating competition!Signor Fratelli, the present champion, has won it every year since 1991.And that ends our special bulletion for today,Thursday,April 1st.We're now going back to the studio.'“作为专题新闻节目的结尾,”电视广播员说,"我们现在到卡拉布里亚的通心粉田里。 Today's help“Today my friend and I are taking a walk.suddenly, we are seeing a boy sit on the chair,he is crying,we go and ask him.“what’s the matter with you” he tell us“I can’t find my dog can you help me”.“yes,I can”.And we help him find his dong .oh it stay underthe big tree! Future championsExperiments have proved that children can be instructed in swimming at a very young age.At a special swimming pool in Los Angeles ,children become expert at holding their breath under water even before they can walk.Babies of two months old do not appear to be reluctant to enter the water. It is not long before they are so accusotomed to swimming that they can pick up weights from the floor of the pool.A game that is very popular with these young swimmers is the underwater tricycle race.Tricycles are lined up on the floor of the poor seven feet under water. The children compete against each other to reach the other end of the pool. Many pedal their tricycles, but most of them prefer to push or drug them. Some children can cover the whole length of the pool without coming up for breath even once.Whether they wil ever become future Olympic champions, only time will tell.Meanwhile, they should encourage those among us who cannot swim five yards before they are grasping for air. Too early and too late Punctuality is a necessary habit in all public affairs in civilized society.Without it , nothing could ever be brought to a conclusion;everything would be in a state of chaos.Only in sparsely-populated rural community is it possible to disregard it.In ordinary living, there can be somne tolerance of unpunctuality. The intellectual, who is working on some abstruse problem, has everything coordinated and organized for the matter in hand .He is therefore forgiven if things fine.It is hard for energetic,quick-minded people to waste time,so they are often tempted to finish a job before setting out to keep an appointment. If no accidents occur on the way, like punctured tyres, diversions of traffic, sudden descent of fog, they wll be on time. They are often more industrious, useful citizens than those who are never late. The over - punctual can be as much a trial to others as the unpunctual. The guest who arrives half an hour too soon is the greatest nuisance. Some friends of my family had this irritatng habit. The only thing to do was ask them to come half an hour later than the other guests. Then they arrived just when we wanted them. If you are catching a train,it is always better to be comfortably early than even a fraction of a minute of a minute too late.Although being early may mean wasting a little time, this will be less than if you miss the train and have to wait an hour or more for the next one;and you avoid the frustration of arriving at the very moment when the train is drawing out of the station and being unabke to get on it.An even harder situation is to be on the young girl the first time she was travelling alone. She entered the station twenty minutes before the train was due, since her parents had impressed upon her that it would be unforgivable to miss it and cause the friends with whom she was going to stay to make two journeys to meet her.She gave her luggage to a porter and showed him her ticket. To her horror he said she was too hours too soon. She felt in her handbag for the piece of paper on which her father had written down all the details of the journey and gave it to the porter. He agreed that a train did come into the station at the time on the paper and that it did stop, but only to take on mail, not passengers. The girl asked to see a timetable, feeling sure that her father could not have made such a mistake. The porter went to fetch one and arrived back with the station master, who produced it with a flourish and pointed out a microscopic 'o' beside the time of the arrival of the train at his station;this title 'o' indicated that the train only stopped for mail.Just as that moment the train came into the station. The girl, tears streaming down her face, begged to be allowed to slip into the guard's van.But the station master was adamant:rules could not be broken. And she had to watch that train disappear towards her destination while she was left behind.

Midway Tactics

Three peting store owners rented adjoining shops in a mall. Observers waited for mayhem to ensue.

The retailer on the right put up huge signs saying, "Gigantic Sale!" and "Super Bargains!"

The store on the left raised bigger signs proclaiming, "Prices Slashed!" and "Fantastic Discounts!"

The owner in the middle then prepared a large sign that simply stated, "ENTRANCE".

Very Pleased to Meet You

During World War II, a lot of young women in Britain were in the army. Joan Phillips was one of them. She worked in a big camp, and of course met a lot of men, officers and soldiers.

One evening she met Captain Humphreys at a dance. He said to her, "I‘m going abroad tomorrow, but I‘d be very happy if we could write to each other." Joan agreed, and they wrote for several months.

Then his letters stopped, but she received one from another officer, telling her that he had been wounded and was in a certain army hospital in England.

Joan went there and said to the matron, "I‘ve e to visit Captain Humphreys."

"Only relatives are allowed to visit patients here," the matron said.

"Oh, that‘s all right," answered Joan. "I‘m his sister."

"I‘m very pleased to meet you," the matron said, "I‘m his mother!"

Two Soldiers

Two soldiers were in camp. The first one‘s name was Gee, and the second one‘s name was Bill. Gee said, "have you got a piece of paper and an envelope, Bill?"

Bill said, "Yes, I have," and he gave them to him.

Then Gee said, "Now I haven‘t got a pen." Bill gave him his, and Gee wrote his letter. Then he put it in the envelope and said, "have you got a stamp, Bill?" Bill gave him one.

Then Bill got up and went to the door, so Gee said to him, "Are you going out?"

Bill Said, "Yes, I am," and he opened the door.

Gee said, "Please put my letter in the box in the office, and..." He stopped.

"What do you want now?" Bill said to him.

Gee looked at the envelope of his letter and answered, "What‘s your girl-friend‘s address?"

How to learn English wellIn China ,with the development of our country, now there are millions ofpeople learning english. But some of them feel that it is very hard to learn english well. why? Some people think that if we want to learn English well we must learnEnglish grammar well first of all. Others believe we can't learn English wellunless we keep in mind as many English words and phrases as possible. In my opinion, grammar rules, new words and phrases are very important, but they are not enough. Fox example, some of english learners are quite good atgrammar and have learned by heart a lot of English words and phrases, yet theycan't express themselves in English when they meet foreign friends. The best way to learn English well,I think,is to learn and use Englishall the time. Don't be afraid of being laughed at. We'd better do a lot of listening, speaking, reading and writing. If you can form the habit of thinking and writingin English all day,you are sure to grasp the spirit of English and will be able toread works in English within a short period of time.Only in this way that I suggest, can we learn English well. So I think this the best way.

Pandas have a white coat with black fur around their eyes,on their ears, muzzle, legs and shoulders. The unique physical features of the species include broad, flat molars and an enlarged wrist bone that functions as an opposable thumb - both of these adaptations are used for holding, crushing and eating bamboo. Giant pandas are classified as bears and have the digestive system of a carnivore, but they have adapted to a vegetarian diet and depend almost exclusively on bamboo as a food source. Pandas live mainly on the ground but have the ability to climb trees as well. While the species does not hibernate,it often relocates to lower altitudes in the winter and spring.

Too Much Pressure

For a couple years I’ve been blaming it on lack of sleep and too much pressure from my job,but now I found out the real reason:I’m tired because I’m overworked. The population of this country is 237 million.104 million are retired. That leaves 133 million to do the work. There are 85 million in school, which leaves 48 million to do the work.Of this there are 29 million employed by the federal government, leaving 19 million to do the work.2.8 million are in the Armed Forces, which leaves 16.2 million to do the work.Take from the total the 14.8 million people who work for State and City Governments and that leaves 1.4 million to do the work.At any given time there are 188,000 people in hospitals, leaving 1,212,000 to do the work. Now,there are 1,211,998 people in prisons. That leaves just two people to do the work. You and me.And you’re sitting at the table reading jokes.

Top 9 Reasons to Study Economics

Economists are armed and dangerous: "Watch out for our invisible hands."

Economists can supply it on demand .

You can talk about money without ever having to make any.

You get to say "trickle down" with a straight face .

Mick Jagger and Arnold Schwarzenegger both studied economics and look how they turned out .

When you are in the unemployment line, at least you will know why you are there.

If you rearrange the letters in "ECONOMICS", you get "COMIC NOSE".

Although ethics teaches that virtue is its own reward , in economics we get taught that reward is its own virtue.

When you get drunk, you can tell everyone that you are just researching the law of diminishing marginal utility.

Nobel Prize in Economics

Economics is the only field in which two people can get a Nobel Prize for saying exactly the opposite thing.

Or Economics is the only field in which two people can share a Nobel Prize for saying opposing things. Specifically, Myrdal and Hayek shared one.

(A rumor has it that there was a similar case in neuroscience, Golgi and Cajal, maybe economists are not so different!)
